How can we help?
Getting your family set up takes four steps. After that, here are answers to the questions families ask most.
Up and running in four steps.
- 1
Start a tribe
Open the app and tap Start your tribe. Enter your family name and your first name.
- 2
Add your people
In Family & settings, add everyone in your house, kids and babies included, so plans and chores have a name on them.
- 3
Share your invite code
Your 6-character code is under Family & settings. Tap Copy invite and send it to your family.
- 4
Tap “That's me”
Each person opens the app, taps Join with a code, types it in and taps “That's me” next to their name.
Tribes and invites
What's a tribe?
A tribe is your family inside HeyTribe: the people, the calendar, the lists and everything else you share. Everyone in the tribe sees changes live.
Where do I find our invite code?
Open Family & settings. Your tribe's 6-character invite code is there, with a Copy invite button you can use to send it.
How does someone join?
They open the app, tap “Join with a code”, type the code and pick which person they are. If they aren't listed yet, add them in Family & settings first.
I got a new phone. How do I get back in?
HeyTribe remembers your tribe on each device, so a new phone or browser needs your invite code once. Ask someone in your tribe for it, then join and pick yourself.
Hey Tribe
What can I type into Hey Tribe?
Write it the way you'd text your partner: “Dentist for Leo next Tuesday at 3, Maria drives, add milk to the list.” Hey Tribe adds the plan, sets the driver and puts items on the list.
Will it add things without asking?
No. Hey Tribe shows you what it understood first, so you can check it before anything is added.
Does it understand Spanish?
The whole app is available in Spanish. Choose Español under Family & settings. Hey Tribe reads quick notes best in English for now.
Is Hey Tribe free?
Yes. Free tribes get 10 quick adds a month, and Premium makes it unlimited. New tribes get unlimited quick adds during their 7-day Premium trial.
Kids, sitters and grandparents
Do my kids need their own phones?
No. Kid view gives them a big, simple screen with their routines and chores. It works well on a shared tablet.
How do I give the sitter what they need?
Open the Sitter sheet. It builds a care sheet from your tribe: kids' allergies, meds, bedtime routines, emergency contacts and house notes. Tap Copy care sheet and send it however you like.
Can grandparents join our tribe?
Yes. Share your invite code with them and they can pick themselves when they join. Anyone with the code can see your whole tribe, so share it only with people you trust.
Billing
Is there a free trial?
Yes. Every new tribe gets 7 days of Premium free. After that you can keep Premium for $4.99 a month or stay on Free.
What will Premium cost?
Premium is $4.99 a month per tribe after a 7-day free trial. One plan covers everyone in your family. See what's included.
What stays free?
Every feature. Free includes an everyday version of each one, and Premium removes the limits and adds extras like reminders, repeating events and the medicine log. See feature by feature.
Privacy and safety
Who can see our tribe?
Only people who have your invite code. That's why it's worth sharing only with family and people you trust.
Can I remove our tribe from a device?
Yes. If you hand down a phone or use a shared computer, you can remove the tribe from that device. You can join again later with your invite code.
What happens to what I type into Hey Tribe?
The text is sent to an AI service so it can understand your sentence and turn it into plans and list items. Our privacy policy has the details.
