Privacy, in plain words.
Your family trusts HeyTribe with a lot. This page explains what we collect, why, who can see it and how to ask us to delete it.
The short version
- We use what your family adds only to run HeyTribe for your tribe.
- Anyone with your tribe's invite code can see your tribe, so share it only with family.
- Text you type into Hey Tribe is sent to an AI service so it can be understood.
- We don't sell your information.
- You can ask us to delete your tribe at any time.
HeyTribe is run by [COMPANY LEGAL NAME] (“we”, “us”). If anything here is unclear, write to us at [CONTACT EMAIL].
What your family adds
HeyTribe holds whatever your family chooses to put in it. That can include:
- Names of the people in your tribe and the faces or avatars you pick for them
- Calendar events, drivers, routines, chores and rewards
- Grocery and shopping lists, dinner menus, fridge notes and polls
- Health and medicine notes, such as medicine schedules, checkups, vaccines and allergies
- Baby log entries like feeds, sleep and diapers
- School forms, lunch menus and teacher contacts
- Bills, subscriptions and home maintenance reminders
- Documents such as passports, insurance cards and warranties, with expiry dates, where they're kept and optional photos
- Trip plans, packing lists, contacts and house notes for sitters
If you contact us through the website, we also receive the email address and message you send.
How we use it
We use your tribe's information only to run the service for your tribe: to store it, sync it live between the people in your tribe, and show it back to you in the right places, like the Today screen and heads-up alerts.
We use contact details to reply to you.
We may use basic technical information, such as error reports, to keep HeyTribe working.
Who can see your tribe
Each tribe has a 6-character invite code. Anyone who has your tribe's invite code can join and see your tribe, including health notes, documents and anything else you've added. Please share it only with family and people you trust to see that information.
HeyTribe remembers your tribe in the browser on each device you use. If you hand down a phone or use a shared computer, remove the tribe from that device.
Hey Tribe and AI
When you type a sentence into Hey Tribe, that text is sent to a third-party AI service so it can work out the who, when and what. Hey Tribe shows you what it understood before anything is added. Avoid typing information into Hey Tribe that you wouldn't want processed this way.
What we don't do
We don't sell your information. We don't share your tribe's information with advertisers. We share it only with service providers who help us run HeyTribe, such as hosting and the AI service described above, and only so they can provide that service to us, or when the law requires it.
Children's information
HeyTribe is made for families, so a tribe often includes information about children. That information is entered by parents or guardians, who decide what to add. Children can use Kid view inside a tribe their parent or guardian set up. If you believe a child has given us information without a parent's involvement, contact us and we'll delete it.
Deleting your information
You can edit or remove most things directly in the app. To delete your whole tribe, or anything you can't remove yourself, email [CONTACT EMAIL] from the address you'd like us to reply to and tell us which tribe it is. We may ask a question or two to confirm the request comes from someone in that tribe.
Changes to this policy
This policy may change as HeyTribe grows. When we make important changes, we'll update the effective date at the top of this page and let families know in the app or by email where we can.
